For the above international carriers, it is assumed that the originating location is somewhere in the USA and the destination is somewhere in Italy. When you read the various regulations on either restricted or prohibited items, you may ask yourself, "are they serious" and the answer is YES.

Also, remember on the form for the declared value of the items in the package, if these items are "USED", please state so on the form and note do not list their respective replacement value. There are any number of stories that can be quoted and related by expats who had to pay the equivalent of $50.00 or more for an item that originally sold in the USA for $5.00 or less. This in not limited to just Italy but to other European countries and other countries around the world.

Remember when sending any package outside the USA, there are different rules for shipping than across state lines in the USA. Also. the recipient has to deal with the respective customs/import procedures for packages and its bureaucracy for the country they are living it.
