The 2008 elections for President, Senate and Congress are just over a year away. Some of the Expats from the USA still maintain a connection either through taxes or property owned in their respective home State, you can still vote in US national , State and local elections while abroad via absentee voting. You may ask yourself why should I vote in an USA election since I now live in Italy. First of all, it's your right. Whomever you may vote for or whatever political party you may be associated with, you have the right to vote wherever you may live on the planet.

That's it for Wednesday, 31 October 2007: mercoled, 31 ottobre 2007.

My wife and I have bought travel insurance before we moved to Italy for three main reasons:
  1. My wife had an elderly mother who lived alone.
  2. While both of us are reasonably healthy, you just never know.
  3. I had been laid off from my job (Information Technology) several times because of company mergers, corporate downsizing or economic conditions.
While our circumstances have changed, we still buy travel insurance when we travel because of the uncertainty of the travel industry (airlines going bankrupt or out of business, unexpected delays, etc.) and our awareness of our health situation. I am now in my 60's and my wife is in her 50's.

The reason that I did not list any specific travel insurance providers is because what may be a good policy for someone in my age group and interests may differ from someone else. There are many companies that provide travel insurance and you should select one that meets your specific needs and requirements. Please pay attention to the small print, restrictions on activities and types of travel, pre-existing medical/health conditions and age of insured individual(s).

That's it for Friday, 26 October 2007: venerdì, 28 ottobre 2007.

I know its been a while since I posted new entries. Well, my wife and I and our 15 year old dog, Siena Lucca have moved to Monte San Savino in the province of Arezzo in the region of Tuscany and its taken longer than expected to get back online. In the days to follow, there will be new entries about our move and about, on or for Italy and I hope you'll find them interesting and helpful.
